Two days ago I had the biggest news drop into my face by my mum. She said starting from yesterday, she was going to work (she's starting work and stopped being a homemaker) and the kitchen would be closed forever (which would mean I had to get my dinner by myself everyday from now on).
Yesterday I had dinner in school and after which I went to do some grocery shopping for today's meal:
About 300g of Australian Gold Sweet Potato $2
About 300g of Broccoli (1 umbrella) $3
One whole Sakura Chicken 1.3kg $8.60
Total: About $14.
ITS SO EXPENSIVEEEEEEEE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! That provides me with 2 dinners, one which I used all the potato, half a chicken and half the broccoli. Its akin to $7 per meal, whereas buying from school is like.. $5 - $6.
The fridge hasn't stocked up lately. I don't know what the hell is going on but I'll keep my silence and survive this! I've always wanted to buy my own ingredients, cook my own food and NOM NOM NOM! But my current allowance is going to burn real badly at this rate. Its only day one of self-cooking..
Anyway I'll ask Muhammad (The Certified trainer) on Sunday gyms about prices around, how much he spends, how to prepare etc. I know he eats like $20 worth of apples a week, I'm not sure if he's trying to use apples to boost his calorie intake for the days or that he just loves apples. His supplies are from Mustafa and I'm not sure how that compares with NTUC.
My mum told me that NTUC can buy chicken in parts, be it a whole chicken or just the breast individually and other parts individually as well. This actually gave me an idea (not really new though). I'll follow lingandclean's style of preparing food - Broccoli and Chicken breast packed in air tight containers, about 2-3 containers a day dapao to school/work then every 2-3h eat. I don't know how much will that cost me though, am planning to pack them in a reusable container instead of the disposable one that she uses. Lingandclean is an instagram user, a female who is very determinant and passionate about fitness & nutrtion to look good! You can check her out, her instagram is quite active with many interesting reads.
Today, Mr Loh just reminded our group that the FYP proposal is due in 2 days. ALL OF US WENT :O
We totally didn't know that the due date was this close! Thankfully we sort of completed it early, just that it needed some add ons from the kind advice of Loh Yoon Ping. I added him on Linkin, wonder if he'll accept HAHAHAHA.
